QLD DPIF

Queensland’s primary industries provide $9 billion to the Australian economy annually and encompass the full range of production activities in the food, fibre, lifestyle, forestry and fisheries sectors.
The Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (DPI&F) has a vision of profitable primary industries for Queensland, and supports strategic industry development at all stages of the industry lifecycle and throughout the entire value chain from production to consumption.
The department’s mission is to maximise the economic potential for Queensland's primary industries on a sustainable basis. It delivers this through four major outputs:
- Industry development
- Biosecurity
- Forestry
- Fisheries.
In achieving this, DPI&F strives to ensure Queensland’s primary industries support sustainable production systems and use best practice in water management and water allocation, vegetation and pest management, and chemical use.
DPI&F continues to work with industry to establish a sophisticated export strategy while simultaneously providing enhanced trade and export opportunities through strategic research and development capacity. Profitable primary industries create jobs, expand Queensland’s export markets and support economic growth.
